The Link

One of my favorite parts about Mass and the CSC is the Lord's Prayer. At Mass this past weekend, I looked up and was reminded that at the CSC, people link hands across the aisle, creating one seamless chain throughout the entire church. For that minute that we spend praying, we're all linked together. We're all one body in Christ.

The next time you're praying the Lord's Prayer at mass, look around at the congregation. You are linked to every single person in the chapel at that moment, sharing words that have been passed on from generation to generation for thousands of years. It's an incredible feeling, to be so connected to so many people.

  2. Yup, I like that part of mass too. I will usually say it in Danish however, so I can link each of those moments when we say it in church, to when I was growing up and would recite it with my dad each night before going to bed. (My dad was born in Copenhagen, Denmark).

    Vor Fader, du som er i himlene!
    Our Father, you who are in the heavens!

    Helliget blive dit navn,
    Hallowed be your name,

    komme dit rige,
    Your kingdom come,

    ske din vilje
    Your will be done

    som i himlen således også på jorden;
    as in Heaven, so also upon the Earth;

    giv os i dag vort daglige brød,
    give us today our daily bread,

    og forlad os vor skyld, som også vi forlader vore skyldnere,
    and forgive us our debt {also translatable as: guilt}, as we also forgive those that are indebted to us,

    og led os ikke ind i fristelse,
    and lead us not into temptation,

    men fri os fra det onde. For dit er Riget og magten og æren i evighed!
    but deliver us from the evil. For yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory {also translatable as: honour} for ever!

    Amen.
